March 29th, 2023
Jillian gave me a tour of the UCLA Film and Television Archive and introduced me to Archive staff who encouraged me to apply for the summer internship they were having.

Since December 2022, I have worked for the Preservation and Conservation Department and have received invaluable mentoring and advising from Yasmin Dessem, Head of AV Preservation for UCLA Library, and Allie da Silva Srulowitz, Senior AV Preservation Specialist for UCLA Library, that has made a crucial and positive impact on my development as an AV archivist and preservationist. They have offered their support at every turn and have supplemented my education in a significant way. I’m extremely grateful to them for sharing their expertise in a welcoming manner over the past year and a half.

Further, I would like to acknowledge the advising, support, and knowledge sharing that my Media Archival Studies peers contributed during my time in the program. Combining their individual strengths and methods in a passionate and collaborative way has made for a fruitful experience on every project. Working alongside other passionate AV archivists has given me a greater appreciation of fostering collaborative and generative archival spaces and processes.
